Euchre card game rules in short
Euchre is played with a deck of 24 standard playing cards. There are two teams of 2 players each.
In our trickster Euchre app, you play with 3 different other players Euchre online, forming 2 teams, and the deck in play consists of the 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A cards. The objective of Euchre is for your team to win 10 points. You get these points in matches with 5 tricks, where the team that scores the most points and tricks wins.
When naming a suit (ordering up trump), a player asserts that their partnership intends to win the majority of tricks of the hand. A single point is scored if the team takes three or four tricks, and two points are scored if the team takes all five tricks. A failure of the calling partnership to win three tricks is referred to as being “euchred”, and that partnership is penalized by giving the opposing partnership two points.
Making a Trump in Euchre
Beginning with the player to the left of the dealer, each player passes or accepts the turn-up as trump. An opponent of the dealer accepts by saying “I order it up.” The partner of the dealer accepts by saying, “I assist.” The dealer accepts by making their discard, called “taking it up.”
The four remaining cards in the deck are placed face down in the center of the table, and this stack is called the kitty. The dealer turns the top card face up (which is called the upcard) to begin naming trump. The trump is the suit that will outrank all of the other suits in the Euchre deck.

The opening lead is made by the player to the dealer’s left. If possible, each player must follow suit to a lead. If unable to follow suit, the player may trump or discard any card. A trick is won by the highest card of the suit led, or, if it contains trumps, by the highest trump. The winner of a trick leads next.
